- Students who use the residency dorms are subject to the rules, regulations, and policies established by the School of International Studies, Sun Yat-sen University, the Office of Housing Management of Sun Yat-sen University, cooperate with the managerial staffs, and maintain a good operational order of the dormitory.
- Students must not occupy bed other than their own or rent the dormitory out. All guests should be registered in the front desk. And Outside guest(s) are not permitted to sleep over in the dorm. Violators would be immediately reported to the security office of Sun Yat-sen University and forced to leave the dorm if necessary.
- If students housed in the dorms drop out or have completed their exchange at Sun Yat-sen University they should pay the utility fees and other relevant fees before checking out, at the Dormitory Administration Office. Otherwise the transcripts will not be delivered to the home school.
- Students housed in the dormitory are responsible for keeping their rooms clean and orderly, which means that students should do the cleaning in time and take the rubbish to the rubbish bins downstairs. Moreover, the corridors should be kept clean and unblocked, so students must not place rubbish and other raffles in the corridors.
- All students living in the residence dorms all conduct in an orderly, professional manner. Any dangerous or disruptive behavior such as, but not limited to, rowdiness, loud noises, theft, and illegal or obscene conduct, will not be tolerated and will be dealt accordingly. All weapons are not permitted to be kept in dorms.
- Visitors should register at the front desk and visit within certain time, the students have the obligation to remind and ask visitors to obey the management policy. People who disobey the rule would be asked to leave by dorm janitor.
- Courtesy hours are in effect 24 hours a day. Residents need to be considerate of others and respect other students’ requests to be quiet. Noise is considered excessive and/or a blatant disturbance (i.e. loud voices, stereos, etc.) when it can be heard from outside of the dorm room.
- Students housed in dorms are not permitted to go out or return late at night. If a late-return or go-out is necessary, it should be reported to the janitor in advance.
- Students are supposed to protect public facilities and properties in the student apartments instead of damaging or dismantle them. Students have to pay the full price for anything damaged.
- There is NO SMOKING in the dorm room. The purchase, possession, use, consumption, sale or distribution or storage of any alcoholic beverage, controlled substance or illegal drug is prohibited in residence dorms.
- Students are supposed to develop a good environmental protection consciousness as well as the habit of thrifty. Wasting or the accident of using water and electricity are avoided. Students have to save water and electricity and turn switches off in time.
- Students who break the rule and disrupt the management of the school apartment would be submitted to punishment according to the Provision of the Punishment of Sun Yat-sen University in the light of the seriousness.
- In the event that a discipline violation takes place in the dormitory, those who are involved will be subject to relevant disciplinary sanction in accordance with the Rules of Sun Yat-sen University on the Treatment of Student Disciplinary Violations.
- Acts that disturb others study or rest in an incorrigible way will lead to a warning letter or more disciplinary sanctions, depending on the seriousness of the case. The case will also be reported to the student’s original school.
- Acts that affect public order in an incorrigible way will lead to a warning letter or more disciplinary sanctions, depending on the seriousness of the case. The case will also be reported to the student’s original school.
- A serious violation to the regulations of the Sun Yat-sen University Dormitory Management in an incorrigible way will be reported to the student’s original school, which will lead to the expel from the Sun Yat-sen University and the cancellation of visa/residence permit.
Failure to follow these policies will threaten your privilege to use the dorms rooms. Serious violators will be sent back to home university.
