The Graduate Union of SIS
The Graduate Union of SIS was established in June 2011. As the exchange platform for graduates of SIS, it holds many activities with specialty characteristics and organizes social volunteer activities, which encourage graduates to participate in social practice and to take up social responsibilities. The association contains presidium, secretariat, project department, publicity department and academic department.
For the past four years, the Graduate Union has planned a number of high-quality activities. To prepare the Up-looking employment guideline lecture, it contacted outstanding graduates and invited them to share experience of TEM4, TEM8 as well as postgraduate recommendation. The lecture was warmly welcomed and helped participants to tackle their problems. During the summer of 2014, the Graduate Union invited world-renowned actor Mark Henry Roswell to host a humorous talk show “Dashan talking about Dashan”. Students were passionate about his show, and every seat in Room F520 was occupied. Besides, the Graduate Union is also devoted to giving back to the society by leading a group of volunteer postgraduates to share learning experience with students in Zhuhai Affiliated School of Peking University and to boost students’ passion for learning. Guangdong Foreign Language Literary Forum has a history of four years. Supported by dozens of universities in Guangdong, it serves as an exchange platform for academic research on foreign languages and promotes the all-around development of this field. In the academic year of 2014-2015, it received hundreds of contributions from seven universities and experts were invited to be referees to lay a foundation for academic communication.
The work of the Graduate Union is widely approved and honored by SIS and even SYSU. Graduates of our Union were awarded the first or the second prizes for their excellent performance at the opening ceremony of the sports meeting of SIS, the first prize for their good show at the opening ceremony of the 90th anniversary of SYSU and the fourth prize at the competition for SYSU Graduates. In the May of 2015, as the initiator, the Graduate Union of SIS organized graduates from different faculties to participate in the May 4th Xinghai Choir Festival and received the second prize. In the same year, it gained the title of Top Ten Graduate Unions of SYSU.
Though the Graduate Union of SIS is young, it has become an outstanding student organization with its distinctive activities and well-organized image. The Union will strive to progress by adhering to the belief of “prospering the Graduate Union home and abroad”.
