Chinese Academic Translation Project by SIS Associate Professor Ma Yanzhe Approved

             On December 25th, 2019, the approval list of 2019 Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Foundation was released. Ma Yanzhe, Associate Professor of School of International Studies, won approval for his project China’s Agriculture, Rural Areas and Farmers.

 

 

 

            Ma Yanzhe, Chair of Department of Arabic of SIS, was awarded the professional certificate of Colleges of Sharia & Islamic Studies from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree of Arabic Language and Literature by Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Al al-Bayt University, and a doctor’s degree of Islamic Studies by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1995, 1999, 2005, and 2009. His major research directions include Arabic Language, Literature, Arab-Islamic Culture, and the West Asian and North African studies.

 

            Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Foundation was established in 2010, mainly based on academic development. It supports the publication of outstanding works of Chinese philosophical social sciences research through foreign authoritative publishing institutions in foreign languages, bringing these Chinese works into the mainstream of publishing abroad. So it can enhance foreign understanding of contemporary China and Chinese traditional culture, promote academic exchange and dialogue between China and other countries, and also improve the international influence of Chinese philosophical social sciences. In this year's published list, projects of many famous universities in China were selected.

 

            Associate Professor Ma won the approval, showing the efforts made by SIS in strengthening its scientific research capacity and highlighting its professional cultivation featuring “humanities, bilingual proficiency and global perspective”. SIS takes an active part in Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Foundation and takes advantage of its multilingual ability to present to the world the outstanding achievements in frontiers of Chinese social science research. These efforts will bring the outstanding works and talents of Chinese philosophical social sciences to the world and open up a new world for China’s study of cross-regional culture.
