Recently, the list of excellent individuals, organizations and projects in the publicity and promotion activities of "Excellent Typical Volunteer Service for Combating Epidemic” in Guangdong Province has been published. The Pandemic Emergency Translation Team of SIS was honored on the list.

The whole country is united to fight the pandemic. In order to respond to the national requirements of preventing imported infection and fully implement the arrangements of the university, SIS gave full play to its professional advantages and relied on international medical translation teaching and research strength to quickly set up a "Pandemic Emergency Translation Team". The team aimed to provide multilingual translation services for the The Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, a designated hospital for foreign COVID-19 patients needed anti-epidemic diagnosis and treatment. With the strong support of the leaders of SIS, the team was convened by Dr. Guo Cong of SIS, with Lin Hong, the head nurse of Phoenix International Medical Center of the Fifth Hospital of CUHK as the coordinator of the hospital, and professors of various language departments of SIS and 28 MTI students of Grade 2019 as core members.
