After all the presentations and oral defenses, Professor Li Zhimin gave overall comments. He recognized the contestants’ academic enthusiasm and paper writing skills, and pointed out at the same time that their writings were still lacking in logic and rationality and that future research should contain more innovations. To this end, Professor Li gave valuable suggestions for contestants and students from three aspects. At the technical aspect, contestants need to follow the format specifications more strictly and use academic language to write; at the argumentation aspect, each view should be supported by sound arguments and the conclusion should be clear; at the knowledge and cultural aspect, research should be based on knowledge or culture systems, and researchers should possess basic academic ethics. Finally, he also encouraged students to devote themselves to academic research through which they can well develop their logical thinking and rationality, and to promote the communication between Chinese and Western cultures through academic research on foreign languages.
