Founded in 2005, the Communist Youth League Committee (CYLC) of SIS, SYSU is the core organization of SIS. It consists of seven departments: Secretary Department, Publicity Department, Academic Department, Organization Department, Sports and Entertainment Department, Practice Department, as well as Social Voluntary Service Department. After eight years of development, the CYLC of SIS has become a core social service organization of SIS, and it won a variety of honorary titles at provincial, municipal and university levels, such as “May Fourth Red-banner Youth League Committee of Guangdong Province”, “Excellent Youth League Committee of Zhuhai”, “May Fourth Red-banner Youth League Committee of Zhuhai” and “Advanced Youth League Committee of Sun Yat-sen University”.

The CYLC of SIS always gives top priority to providing services for SIS students. Firstly, the Committee started the Buddy Program, which provides guidance on the life and study for the freshmen. Secondly, the Committee holds Campus Hunt annually in order to help those freshmen get familiar with the campus and establish friendship with each other. This activity has become part of the Freshman Orientation of SIS. Thirdly, the Committee holds experience sharing lectures on TEM-4 so as to help sophomores better prepare for the exam with the advice of speakers. Fourthly, the Committee holds Interpreting Salon, Translation Salon and Interpreting Contest annually, which enable students to have face-to-face communications with teachers from Department of Translation and Interpreting as well as participate in interpreting and translation practices. Fifthly, in 2013, the Committee organized the first Enterprise Tour, through which, students were given the opportunity to not only visit some major enterprises, including China Mobile, Carrefour, Citibank, and Guangfa Securities, but also learn further about enterprises' culture, which broadened their vision.

Apart from providing services to SIS, the Committee also bears the responsibility for serving the university. Under the instruction of CYLC of SYSU, the Committee of SIS has undertaken a series of activities that have huge influence in Guangdong. In October 2011, the Committee undertook “Let’s Sing Red Songs” – an online MV creation competition which was part of the 6th College Culture Festival in Guangdong, sponsored by the CYLC of Guangdong, and the theme of the festival was “Always Follow the Party”. The society responded proactively and the Committee won praises from the CYLC and Education Department of Guangdong. In April 2012, the Committee organized “Let’s Film” --- a microfilm competition to commemorate the history of the Communist Youth League”. It was one of a series of activities designed to mark the 90th birthday of the Communist Youth League. Through this creative activity, the college students learned more about the history of the Youth League and they were encouraged to reappear those exciting events happened in the development of the Youth League, and retold the exemplary deeds of those excellent members and cadres. In December 2013, under the guidance of CYLC of Guangdong, the Committee undertook the Guangdong College Students New Media Competition, an activity which was part of the 8th College Culture Festival held for those junior college students and secondary specialized students in Guangdong. The event attracted 1,560 teams from over 30 colleges and universities, secondary vocational schools and technical secondary schools. Such efforts received praises from the CYLC of Guangdong and the CYLC of SYSU.

Besides, the CYLC of SIS also actively engages in social activities by organizing various volunteering activities. On July 7th, 2010, under the instruction of the CYLC of SYSU, the Committee organized the social activity to bring culture, science, technology and hygiene to the countryside of Pingyuan, Guangdong province, with the participation of students from different schools of SYSU. In 2011, it undertook the recruiting and training of interpreters of minority languages for the 26th Shenzhen Summer Universiade and provided it with logistical service, earning the titles of “Excellent Organizer of the Volunteering Activities for the 26th Shenzhen Summer Universiade” and “Advanced Group”. “Going global” is one of the features of SIS, as well as the core of the SIS CYLC’s work. Since 2010, the world-class TNT Theatre Britain has been holding performances in SYSU in every late November, which are all organized by the CYLC of SIS, presenting Shakespeare’s classic dramas Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream, King Lear and Macbeth to the faculty and students of SYSU as well as Zhuhai residents. Apart from that, the CYLC of SIS also organized Chinese Teaching Contest and Mandarin Contest for International Students, facilitating the interaction and friendship between Chinese students and International students on Zhuhai Campus while spreading Chinese culture.
