Professor Chen Jie Appointed as Vice Director of Academic Committee of West Asian and East African Studies Center of National Ethnic Affairs Commission, Northwest Minzu University

      On December 5th, 2020, the Founding Meeting of Academic Committee of West Asian and East African Studies Center of National Ethnic Affairs Commission & Seminar about the International and Regional Studies for National Strategies Construction in the New Era was held at Northwest Minzu University (NMU). Professor Bai Rixia, NMU Vice President, addressed the meeting and announced the members in the academic committee and the establishment of the West Asian and East African Studies Center of National Ethnic Affairs Commission.

      Forty scholars from NMU, Sun Yat-sen University, Lanzhou University, University of International Business and Economics, Yunnan Normal University, Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Qinghai Nationalities University attended the meeting. They exchanged opinions on approaches, methods and steps for international and regional studies to serve national strategies, and on foreign language learners’ mission to engage in the studies.

      SIS’s Associate Professor Ma Yanzhe, Chair of Department of Arabic, and Professor Chen Jie both participated in the meeting. Professor Chen Jie has been appointed as Vice Director of Academic Committee of West Asian and East African Studies Center of National Ethnic Affairs Commission. In the following seminar, he delivered an online speech on China’s current international and regional studies and talent cultivation in this field; Dr. Ma Yanzhe hosted one session of the seminar and gave insightful comments.
