Meiling Chen is a researcher and academic specializing in the internationalization of higher education, with a particular emphasis on China-Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) relations. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Her research integrates an organizational behavior framework to critically examine international education policies and talent mobility mechanisms.
She also served as a researcher at the Institute of International and Regional Studies and the Institute of Belt and Road Studies, where she authored numerous reports aimed at informing government decision-making on China-LAC relations and international cooperation. These reports were utilized by governmental bodies to guide policy-making and strategic initiatives.
With over ten years of teaching experience at Sun Yat-sen University, she has instructed a comprehensive range of Spanish language and culture courses, from introductory to advanced levels, and has supervised more than 30 undergraduate theses, several of which have garnered recognition for their scholarly rigor. Her pedagogical approach is student-centered and adaptable, consistently earning her high evaluations and accolades for teaching excellence, including awards for pedagogical innovation.
She possesses substantial expertise in program management, having served as the Coordinator of International Programs for Spanish-speaking countries at Sun Yat-sen University. In this capacity, she successfully negotiated and executed cooperation agreements with universities in Spain and LAC, expanded institutional partnerships, and facilitated official academic exchanges. Additionally, she served as a Senior Programme Officer at UNESCO-ICHEI, where she managed country-specific initiatives and advanced educational technology projects.
Her research interests encompass international cooperation, talent mobility, organizational behaviors, lifelong learning, and the intersections of education policy and intercultural exchange.
